How many tacos per person
Plan 3 tacos per adult, 4–5 for big eaters and 1–2 per child, with about 2 oz of cooked filling in each taco.
Counts are for regular 6-inch tacos served as the main course with rice and beans on the side. Small street tacos go faster, so plan 4–5 each.

| Kids under 10 | 1–2 tacos | 10–20 | 20–40 | 30–60 | 50–100 |

Tips
- Filling: about 2 oz of cooked meat per taco, so roughly 6 oz (a little over 1/3 lb) per adult.
- Buy tortillas in a 10–20% surplus; a few always tear.
- With chips, rice and beans on the table, the low end of each range is enough.
- Taco bar with two fillings? Split the filling weight between them rather than doubling it.

These counts are rules of thumb. Portion sizes vary by restaurant and caterer, so ask them if their pieces or trays run small or large.
